NEW for 2010 – IELS Junior Summer Camp (8-12 Years)
The Institute of English Language Studies is proud to introduce a new Junior Summer Camp Programme for students aged 8 to12 years. We have carefully selected Savio College which is located in the quiet village of Dingli, only minutes away from the old Capital City of Mdina.
Savio College is the ideal residence for young students. The college is completely surrounded by lush countryside and offers in house residential accommodation, classrooms and sports grounds.
This means that our juniors will enjoy a fun packed learning experience in a safe, closed and supervised environment.
Lessons will be provided in the morning and students will then be able to enjoy Malta in the afternoon and evening through the various activities which will be organised for them. This will give them the opportunity to mingle with other students of different nationalities and make new friends.
Our Summer Camp lessons are designed to provide a solid foundation in the basic skills of English, using methods that are well suited to the way children learn. They will learn language through conventional learning methods such as listening, writing, reading and comprehension, through activities as well as through movement, pictures, stories, songs, games and their surroundings. The classes are filled with activities that are fun, interesting and educational.
Basic English grammar and vocabulary are taught through fun and games. Students will sing songs, look at and draw pictures, use interactive posters, read stories and play games and enjoy activities all designed to motivate and make learning fun.
Accommodation
Dormitory facilities for both boys and girls are situated on the same floor and students will share 13 twin and 2 triple rooms. Each room is nicely decorated and has 2 bed side tables, a desk, wardrobe and a sink for students to refresh themselves in between activities.
Separate bathroom and toilet facilities located on the same floor as the bedrooms are available for both male and female young students.
24 hour supervision – An IELS representative and welfare coordinator will be permanently located at the college for the whole duration of our programme in order to supervise our operation at the school, as well as make sure that students are well taken care of at all times.
Leisure
Our programme is tailor made to suit our youngest students. The activities are all about action, imagination, adventure and fun. With treasure hunts, sports, games, arts and crafts, competitions and special parties organised by our activity leaders, our students will be entertained and busy every day. We know how important it is to make learning fun and so our activities are created in a way which will help students to practice the English they have learnt in an exciting and stimulating environment.
The IELS Junior Summer Camp Programme runs from 19 July – 2 August 2010 only.

Holidays Parks Providing the Ideal Weekend Break
The kids break of from school next week and for all parents this can be a stressful time as it means 5 or 6 weeks (depending on the children’s school) with them needing to be entertained and looked after throughout the entire day. For children who are of a certain age, this is not as much of a problem because they can go out with their friends and enjoy their time away from school. However, if you have young ones that may have just finished their first year of school then this is clearly not an option and you need to find a way to split up the holiday.
When it comes to finding things to do you will also need to take into consideration the holidays you are allowed to take at work as you may not be able to take the family on a long 2 week break due to holiday restrictions. If this is the case for you then you can opt to stay in the UK and visit one of the UK holiday parks that exist. These are great for families and children of all ages are welcome because there is plenty to do for everyone here.
For children there is plenty to do as the holiday parks understand that after they have just finished a term of school they want to have some fun and forget about their teachers and homework for a summer. The best way to let off some steam is to get involved with all the activities that go on during the day and evening at the holiday parks, there is a waterpark where they can whizz their way down the slides into the pool from various heights. There is even an area for the toddlers to enjoy so they don’t feel left out on all the fun and games that are going on.
There is a range of sporting activities available to including football, basketball and tennis so if you have a competitive side then you can get involved and see if your skills can take you all the way. At night, the entertainment carries on but this time you can sit back and relax as some of the UK’s top performers take to the stage to showcase their talents. Once the entertainment is over you can head back to your top of the range accommodation and enjoy a great night sleep ready to do it all over again.
The ideal family weekend break is only a few clicks away and you can visit a holiday park in the UK to make sure you family has a great time.
