Your friends are raving about how much they enjoyed at the computer camp they went to last summer, and you’re tempted to go because it sounds like loads of fun. So you collect some camp brochures, check out a few camp videos and maybe even visit a couple of nearby camps along with your parents. The big day finally arrives and you’re all set for your very first camp. That’s when it hits you – you don’t know anyone there! It’s not like you are socially challenged, but you’d certainly appreciate a few tips for making new friends at your teen summer camp. Here you go:

• Take the bus along with other campers, if the camp provides one. Try and sit next to someone your age and introduce yourself. Make eye contact and smile when you look at them. Say ‘Hi’ politely. It doesn’t matter if this person doesn’t become your best friend at the computer camp. At least you know someone, at that makes a lot of difference.

• If you’re talking to someone for the first time, repeat their name so it’s easier for you to remember. Like “Jamie, where do you come from?” If this makes you nervous, rehearse a bit and speak slowly but clearly – don’t mumble.

• Try and find out if you and your new ‘friend’ have something in common. It might be school, hobbies, mutual friends, favorite TV show, a sport or anything under the sun. It could be something as simple as “Did you watch Glee last night?”

• Most kids are looking to make new friends. Its just that some want just one best friend while others aren’t happy till they have a whole busload. Do you know what kind of friendships you are looking for at your teen summer camp?

• If you’re finding it a tad difficult to talk to people at camp, try approaching someone with “Hey, I’m new around here. Can you help me find the gymnasium?” Or something like this. You aren’t under any pressure and most people are eager to help out a rookie camper. Breaking the ice can’t get any easier than this.

• Everybody wants to be included in any ongoing summer fun activity, but make sure you don’t disturb a group that’s already involved in something. Wait till you’re invited or look around for others who are just hanging around.

And, above all, make sure you’re smiling all the time. Enthusiasm will win you a lot of friends at teen summer camps.

Campers learn to regulate their food intake and activity levels as they take healthy cooking lessons and strive to reach those 10,000 steps each day on camp outings. Linda Daignault believes behavioral change is one of the things that make Wellspring so special. Campers and students at the academies have four sessions a week with a licensed therapist where they’re taught “concrete skills to deal with stress management that will stick with them throughout their lives,” she says. Focusing on the whole child, Wellspring guides children through emotional and social growth as they lose weight.

Part of Wellspring’s commitment to campers and students involves family and continued care beyond the program. With a 70 percent success rate of maintaining or continuing weight loss at home, Wellspring has a winning program. “Family involvement,” says Daignault, ‘is among the most important factors” toward the program’s success.

“We see such a huge correlation between parents who are willing to get on board and the campers’ success,” Daignault explains. It’s so important that Wellspring puts money on it, offering $300 to parents who come to a weekend workshop with their kids. The healthy living skills and healthy parenting styles regarding eating and exercise that families take away from the weekend help the camper stay on track and have the added benefit of helping the entire family lose weight and be a healthier place.

Once campers leave Wellspring, they are given a free year of Continuing Care with motivation through phone and email contact. At the three-month point, those who pass a weigh-in from their doctor earn a $700 award.

Residential Academies encourage success in school

Success rates increase with longer programs, which is why Wellspring Academies are so effective. But their success is not limited to weight loss. Academic success earns accolades here as well. Fully accredited, the academies work closely with each student’s home school, and credits transfer easily.

Because school is so social, many overweight kids struggle there dealing with teasing and other discrimination. The result is often increased absences and lack of motivation, which cause grades to plummet. Once kids break away from the difficulty of their home school and attend classes in Wellspring’s residential program, “we see a pretty major improvement,” says Daignault.

The academies are very flexible, allowing a student to start at any time. The minimum stay is generally four months, but it’s becoming increasingly common to come for a semester or stay for a full school year.

There are 11 Wellspring summer camp locations in seven states and the United Kingdom, and two academies. Both the camps and the academies have many program options to offer the best situation for each individual. There are weight loss camps for ages 11-24, family camp for families with kids ages 5-15, and even a women’s program for adult women ages 25-65 plus. Academies are for ages 12-24 and include college programs.

Good parents must know such Child Rearing Styles methods to develop their children right way.

Summer Camp Programs inNew Jerseyare perhaps the best way for students to spend their summer holidays. Summer camp programs include ordinary sports and educational camp programs to adventure tripping camps for teens, youth, and youth groups. Some of the main summer camp programs offered include ice hockey, whitewater kayaking, canoeing, basketball camp, rafting, field hockey, cross country running, rock climbing, football, fencing, golf, sailing, tennis, lacrosse, softball, swimming, soccer, mountain biking, wrestling, and windsurfing.

Many of these wilderness camps programs inNew Jerseytake place outside of the residentialUnited States. These camps help your teen deal with problems and emotional issues. They help bridge the gap between parents and teens and heal emotional wounds that the teen may have and not be willing to talk to the parent about. Much of a teens bad behavior, inconsistency, drug abuse, and lack of respect is often due to a lack of communication and because he or she does not know how to communicate their feelings well, the parent does not know how to deal with the teens bad behavior, or even how to reach the teen emotionally. This is where a camp for troubled teens can help, by being the conduit for that communication gap.

Boot camps programs in New Jersey are an ineffective approach to rigorous behavior troubles. To take care of rigorous behavior problems, boot camp programs rely on destructive argument, harsh discipline, extreme bodily exertion, and strict respect to those with power. Although they do well in punishing, they succeed in little else. There is no consistent proof which supports the effectiveness of boot camp programs , although there is a substantial body of confirmation which shows such approaches to be unsuccessful and even injurious.

Camp programs are usually organized based on the age groups and so, if you are looking for ideal suitable one for grown up children, a youth camp could be better choice. Teenage is the time when you are stepping into a maturation phase and therefore you are likely to responsible. Christian camps are considered as good alternative to boarding schools, boot camps, and drug rehab centers to deal with behavior problems. They aim at restoring the troubled teens to a particular life of power, purpose, in addition to potential. The camps give professional Christian counseling and Biblically based coping skills programs.

When summer comes most parents are concerned about their teens’ summer resource and they want their youngsters get some fun summer experience and return home safe and sound and full of impressions and energy. And then parents start selecting a summer camp for teens or teen summer program where their kids can enjoy all or part of summer. Loving parents want to make a choice that reflects their kids’ needs and interests and provides a lifetime of memories. Children are very playful by nature and are interested in knowing new things. During the time of their school vacation in summer, they want to have full enjoyment. But sadly not all of them can afford the week long stay at a camp. A summer day camp can therefore be considered a best alternative for them as they can commute daily.

The wonderful summer weather makes Florida the best place to be in summer time. Specifically for fed up kids who wish to do something different during the vacations this year. Fl summer camps offer a community of growing adults who give the right type of experiential training which improves your kid’s self confidence as well as personal expertise. Going to summer camp can be a wholesome experience which results in to highly positive results – a definite self-identity, a higher sense of self-worth as well as improved understanding of human endeavor.

A good deal of summer fun is associated with the 4 Cs which define all camp concepts – character, factor, compassion as well as commitment. Studies have shown that many kids have a tendency end up being to much more independent, mature as well as nurturing after coming back from summer camp. Kids as well find out the need for discussing as well as giving and also to stand up on their own. They learn how to bear duties – a quality they require to become successful adults.

Study shows that kids look more happy at Florida summer camps which nurture a feeling of neighborhood as well as tend to create good inter-generational friendships with advisors. Through good role models, they discover much better with top notch experiences as well as feel more capable, loved as well as incorporated. The majority of summer camps gives a good vibrant environment which prioritizes the security of its campers.

Before sending your kid to a Fl summer camp, you have to get answers to these questions:

* Does your kid wish to go to camp ? Try to find some remedies for homesickness if it is a problem.

* Is he/she willing to spend 2 full weeks away from home ? If the answer is no, take a look at some good day camps closer to home.

* Is a camp you’ve chosen, the right one? Does it match your kid’s needs? Is your kid excited thinking of going to camp?

* Have you spoken to other parents regarding sending your kids to a Fl summer camp? Find their experiences have been as well as what they’ve to say regarding a specific summer camp.

* Does your kid have particular requirements? If yes, does the camp you have selected focus on those requires?

* Will your kid be secure at summer camp? Ask regarding the security report of the camp.

Finding the answers to these queries will help you find the correct summer camps in USA for your kid.

High-energy karate is only part of the summer camp experience at Integrity Martial Arts! Children not only receive exceptional teaching from experienced instructors, but they also enjoy indoor games, themed activities and outdoor sports.

Active and Fun

Children get great exercise and love to come to Integrity Martial Arts’ summer camp. Integrity harnesses that excitement to teach Respect and Discipline through the martial arts. This is done in such a way that it nourishes children’s self-esteem through positive feed back, overcoming challenges, mastering responsibilities and achieving goals. In between classes, children play games like chess, visit a local park and spend time with their friends.

Real Self-Defense

The staff at Integrity Martial Arts believes that children face real dangers in today’s world and that self-defense is a valuable, possibly necessary skill. They are careful to instruct each of their students on what are appropriate and inappropriate uses of force.

Certified Expert Staff

Integrity Martial Arts doesn’t hire unskilled teenagers to teach their students. All of Integrity’s instructors are certified black belts with extensive experience teaching children of all ages and developmental levels. All senior instructors are certified in CPR and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer. Integrity’s chief instructor, Jonathan Metcalf, is one of only 10 people in the country certified to teach the martial arts by a Higher Board of Education. Integrity Martial Arts is certified as a youth day camp by Connecticut’s Department of Health.

Highly Recommended

Parents enthusiastically recommend Integrity’s programming because of the difference it has made with their children. Integrity Martial Arts has received endorsements from Connecticut’s Governor Jodi Rell, local town officials and several public schools in Enfield, Somers, and Longmeadow.

Summer camps play a vital role especially for parents who are looking for opportunities in entertainment and talent development of their children. Summer Camps creatively keep School children busy till the time school re-opens. Summer camp is an exciting and enriching time for children of International Schools who believe in all round development of the student. The time duration for summer camps varies from one day to a month or two months depending on the focus activities and kid’s interest such as dance, music, adventure games, art or a sport etc. In most places across the globe, summer camps start by the end of March and as and when the children get vacations from their schools. Never the less there are several factors to take into consideration when deciding summer camps for your children. Summer camps without appropriate guidelines can put your child at risk from insufficient supervision, injury and maltreatment or buying. Following are some tips for safety of your kids at summer camp.

Know the complete details of the Summer Camp: It is the right and duty of parents to know what is objective of summer camp or what are they trying to accomplish and activities planned in summer camp such as daily routine, special activities planned in summer camp etc. Knowing these things would help parents to choose summer camp that suits best for their children and keep your children safe at a camp.

Ensure that your children are safe at any Summer Camp: Summer Camps have definitely become a profitable business for many who have the necessary infrastructure. Today there are thousands of camps which appear to be similar, but each camp has its own objective. Before you choose a summer camp for your children, ensure that the summer camp you choose is safe for your children.

Summer camps equipped with Safety and Emergency plans: A well planned contingency or Emergency plan is very essential in any summer camp. The camp organizer must have provisions and medically trained staff to handle emergency, in-case something goes wrong. Many International Ask Schools now-a-days conduct summer camps please do a chock-a-block check before closing on any one. Questions such as “Do counsellors receive first-aid/CPR training”? “Is a first-aid kit brought to events”?

Proper Staff Training & Background: Parents of children attending International Schools in India with IB, IGCSE, American and other curriculums must make sure that the trainers and staff at summer camps are experienced, especially after all the incidents and mishaps that we hear in a number of summer camps. Parents must understand what the counsellors are taught, and by whom, you may want to see the training curriculum and training materials. Ask about the camp’s screening process, and review the materials the camp has gathered concerning the counsellors, including their backgrounds, their swimming, driving and criminal records, and their prior employment histories.

Ratio of staff members and Trainers: Check that the staff-to-child ratio is appropriate for different age groups. It is recommended to have One staff member for every five campers ages 4 and 5,every six campers ages 6 to 8, every eight campers ages 9 to 14, every 10 campers ages 15 to 17 respectively. Also check who will be driving kids on field trips and how kids are controlled in the vehicles, and make sure you’re comfortable with the answer. International Schools across the world conduct summer camps and many of them are also certified by renowned bodies and authorized by international agencies. Look for such summer camp organizers who are renowned and experienced.

Summer Camp Checklist: Parents and guardians can ask for checklist or list of items you need to provide when your kid or children attending the summer camp. Ask whether camp organizer has made arrangement for good food, bedding and extra blankets etc, required for your kids and other campers. Ensure that food and water provided in camp is hygienic for your kid. Also check for hygiene levels at the summer camps.

Before zeroing on any summer camp, make a list of summer camps that are safe for your kid and discuss with them which summer camp would they like to go for this vacation. Summer camp you choose must not only be an entertainment for your kid but also develops talent and skills of your kid. Some School children like adventure summer camp such as trekking, rock climbing or some adventure activity in them. You should not restrict them considering its risk but you need to help your kid to attend them by taking precaution and safety measures. Ask school teachers or discuss with your friends or parents of your kid’s friends to help you to choose best summer camp in your locality. You can also consider with help of other residents in your apartment.
